Sedna is the most distant celestial body known to orbit our Sun. Three times farther than Pluto. Discovered only in November 2003, with an orbital cycle of about 11,000 years — a span of time that escapes any human understanding. Its name doesn't come from Greco-Roman mythology like all the other planets in the series: Sedna is the Inuit goddess of the sea, an archaic figure of cold and oceanic depths. Hans Cousto derived its frequency: 64.05 Hz, note C2. The lowest note of the entire planetary series, on one of the largest sizes. When this gong vibrates, you hear something coming from very, very far away.

Who is Sedna

Sedna is a planetoid discovered in 2003, the celestial body with the widest orbit ever detected around the Sun — about 11,000 years to complete one cycle. Its name belongs to Inuit tradition, not Greco-Roman: Sedna is the goddess of the Arctic sea, mistress of the depths. Hans Cousto calculated its frequency: 64.05 Hz — note C2. It's the lowest fundamental frequency in the entire planetary gong family. At a 38" diameter, the sound has a physical mass perceptible throughout the room — not just in the ears.
